FAQ
Questions, answered plainly.
If something here isn't clear, that's on us. The short version: we file, we prove, we re-check, and we never promise what we can't show.
The service
What does Quietname actually do?
We make your name quieter online. We file opt-out and deletion requests with people-search sites and data brokers on your behalf, then keep a proof record for each site: what we saw, what we filed, the site's confirmation, and a screenshot, all timestamped and hash-chained. We re-check every 90 days and re-file when a listing comes back.
Which sites do you cover?
At launch, 31 sites across 24 broker families, including Spokeo, Whitepages, the PeopleConnect sites (TruthFinder, Intelius, Instant Checkmate and others), BeenVerified, Radaris, FastPeopleSearch and TruePeopleSearch, plus marketing data brokers such as Acxiom and Epsilon. The full list, with each site's official opt-out page, is in our guides.
Why “broker families”?
Many people-search sites share a parent company and a single suppression system. One PeopleConnect suppression, for example, covers several sites. We file once per family where that works and verify every site in it separately.
Can you guarantee my information will be removed?
No, and be wary of anyone who does. Some sites refuse requests from agents, some re-list people after buying fresh data, and some information is public record. That's why we show the status and evidence for each site, including the ones that are still pending or that refused.
How is this different from other removal services?
Most services report a count of requests sent. We show per-site evidence you can inspect, and we build around California's DROP instead of competing with it. Independent testing has found large gaps between what removal services report and what actually comes down, so we think evidence matters more than a number.
Is the free scan real?
The search links and opt-out links are real: each one opens the site's own pages so you can check for yourself. At this stage the “likely listed” column is simulated and clearly labeled as such. When you buy a pass or subscribe, a person (and, over time, automation) searches each site for you.
Authorization and privacy
What is an authorized agent?
Several state privacy laws, including California's, let you name someone to submit privacy requests for you. You sign a consent form in your account, and you can revoke it anytime. Some sites may still contact you directly to confirm.
What information do you need from me?
Your name, the city and state you live in, and an email. To match some listings we may ask for past addresses or phone numbers. We never ask for your Social Security number. If a site insists on ID, we'll tell you and you decide.
What do you do with my data?
We use it only to find and remove your listings. Proof screenshots are stored privately and only shown to you and our operators. You can delete your account and all of your data from your account page at any time.
How do I sign in?
With your email. We send a one-time link and a 6-digit code; there's no password to leak or forget.
California DROP
I'm in California. Should I just use DROP?
Use DROP; it's free and it reaches every registered data broker. But it only covers registered brokers, brokers can claim exemptions for public-record data (much of what people-search sites show), and it doesn't do custom removals or show you proof. We help you set it up and then chase what it leaves behind.
I'm not in California. Does this still work?
Yes. DROP is California-only, but most people-search sites accept opt-outs from anyone. Outside California we file directly with each site, and laws in several other states give you a right to delete and allow authorized agents.
Billing
How much is it?
$49 once for one removal pass and a proof report, or $89 a year for ongoing filing and re-checks. The one-time price is a placeholder in the suggested $39-49 range. You can buy another pass from your portal with Run again.
Can I cancel?
Yes, anytime from your account. Your proof records stay available until you delete your account.
Is this legal advice?
No. Quietname is a privacy-request filing service, not a law firm.
Start with a quiet look.
The free scan builds a checklist of 31 people-search sites and data brokers, with a direct search link and the official opt-out page for each. No card, no commitment.
